McKinney

It is just about the perfect city to make a home, not just in Texas but in all the US.

Welcome to McKinney

It is just about the perfect city to make a home, not just in Texas but in all the US. Topping Money Magazines Best Place to Live in America in 2014 for cities with a population between 50,000 and 300,000 pretty much speaks for itself. Not only did it take the number one spot in 2014, but it has also made the list three other times since 2008. The reasons are excellent schools, beautiful natural parks, and open spaces, affordable and diverse housing, plenty of jobs, and a vibrant downtown. Add to that you have a friendly, tight-knit community where neighbors stop and say hello on the streets even with a population that topped 155,000 at the beginning of 2015.

The historic downtown houses a mix of art galleries, boutiques, and farm-to-table restaurants, as well as basics like a butcher, shoe repair, and farm-supplies stores. Plus other companies are bringing their businesses to town allowing for more employment opportunities.

Housing is still affordable although, with the rapid growth of the city, it is steadily rising. You can find starter homes in the mid to upper $100’s and the median home values closer to $250,000. That’s not all there is to offer, however. You can find lofts with city views, Victorian homes on quiet streets to Texas-style mansions in a master-planned community.

With so much urban appeal and green and open spaces throughout, McKinney is definitely unique by nature.
